Left 4 Dead…Made 4 Culturegeeks
All I could think about while watching this was that I wish I could watch Roby watch it for the first time.
Q: What is your favorite weapon in the game?
Faliszek: The pipe bomb. You throw it out there and all the infected will go chasing after like little dogs after a bone, and then they explode into a bunch of tiny little pieces. So, I mean you shouldn’t do that with dogs, but you can do that with zombies.

Of course, in Stubbs the Zombie you can throw your own rotting pancreas as a fairly effective bomb. And tear the arms off of humans and beat them to death with them. And so on.
Good times, good times.

I remember reading about stubbs when it came out…ditto another xbox game…Dead Rising maybe? I’ve been playing team fortress quite a bit (another Valve game) and if they can make it half as much fun, I’m going to have a hard time stopping playing at 10.
Saw a commercial for it the other day and thought it would be the coolest game I could ever play! And by cool, I mean rendering me into a curled, whimpering fetal ball. I loves/hates me some zombies!
I just plunked down money for it, and it’s downloading via Steam right now. Even though I don’t know anyone in real life who plays it, and I have a kid which means I can play it from about 8-10pm…the concept is just too cool to avoid.
Ok, yeah, that was scary. A single game/round lasts upwards of 20-30 minutes. At the very end of it, I died, mostly because my teammates were all fucking bitches. I was manning a gatling gun, shooting propane tanks I had put around the roof, killing zombies left and right…one zombie got through and was noming on my brains.
You get a decent amount of time for people to come help you, but no one came. I didn’t stick around to see, but I hope they all died. I mean…you just don’t leave a man down. Or if you do, you shoot them through the brainpan to make sure they don’t turn.
Just finished a game where all four of us played really well, and still everyone ended up dying. All of us making a last stand in a farm house, and wave after wave of zombies kept coming. Someone would get knocked down, others would run in, kick some ass and heal them, over and over until we ran out of first aid.
Stupid shotgun can’t reload fast enough when they’re coming at that pace. My god. And FYI, fast zombies waaaay scarier than slow zombies.
No PC at home. I’d have to go up to my office at night. The one that’s a bedroom in the upstairs of a converted 4-square house in the middle of an industrial area, likely the only person around for about four blocks.
I’ll have to remember to bring a change of underwear.
There’s a house not terribly unlike your office in the game. So, you’d best bring a defibrillator too, ’cause when you see zombies scurrying up the outside of the house, your heart won’t make it much longer…
Wow. I just started playing this last night. I had read about it but David’s post reminded me I wanted to try this game. So I did.
Like I said, I started playing it last night, about 7 pm. I stopped playing at 4 am. And went to work at 8 am. Talk about zombies!
But man, that is cool. I love the 4-character action. (Although I’ve only played on single player so far.) Fast zombies scary. Smokers are really fracking annoying. Tank is in my nightmares now.
